“We are combining atomic and molecular resolution imaging techniques such as scanning tunneling microscopy and atomic force microscopy with ultrafast spectroscopy to determine how the structure of material interfaces can facilitate or hinder charge transfer in photovoltaic and photocatalytic systems. We are also developing new methods for synthesizing monolayer thick materials so that they can be used for wide scale electronic and optical devices.”
