Ashish is a professional Earth scientist specialized in Igneous Petrology and Geochemistry. Works mainly on the small volume mgmatism originated from the Earth’s deeper mantle for their petrological and geochemical investigations. Rocks like diamond bearing kimberlites, lamproites and lamprophyres and their mantle xenoliths are of special interests. Recent work focused on the origin and formation of such alkaline and carbonates rich magmas from the south and western part of India to better understand the geodynamic conditions under which they form. At the S. P. Pune University, working on diverse projects including mafic- utramafic rocks from Deccan Trap province and geo-tourism sites from western India. He is also interested in the study of geological/ geomorphological features formed in the basaltic lava flows of the Deccan Traps.
