Human Rights Work

Here is an article written by Yashvi Singh who is from National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli:

“During June-August 2015, I interned with People’s Union for Civil Liberties(PUCL) under Digital Media Team. People’s Union for Civil Liberties is a human rights body formed in India in 1976 by socialist leader Jayaprakash Narayan, as the People’s Union for Civil Liberties and Democratic Rights (PUCLDR) . It is also India’s oldest and the largest Human Rights Organization.

My work as a part of Digital Media team involved the creation of new website posts on various issues of human rights based on articles from the PUCL Bulletin.  The articles dealt with Caste Violence, State Response, Politics, Demystifying Laws, Issues, Judiciary and Rule of Law, PUCL Bulletin, Campaigns and Action, Commissions of Inquiry, Criminal Justice System, Human Rights Protocol, Institutions and Human Rights, Press Statements, Protests, Areas Experiencing Conflict, Campaigns and Action, Caste Violence, Commissions of Inquiry, ECOSOC Issues, Fact-finding Reports, Freedom of Movement, Freedom of Speech and Expression, Fundamental Freedoms, Gender Violence, Labour and Human Rights, Marginalised Section, Peasants and Human Rights , Resources, Right to Education, Right to Food, Socio-economic Development and Human Rights, State and National Human Rights Commissions, State Terrorism, State Violence, Structural Violence: Socio-economic, cultural violence, Tribals and Human Rights, Unorganised Sector, ,Diversity and Difference: Communalism, Secularism, Majoritarianism, , Fundamental Freedoms , Judiciary and Rule, Socio-economic Development and Human Rights,Technology and Liberty, Prostitution and numerous other issues.

Further, I also curated the articles to meet today’s social media demands. My work also involved writing 50-word summaries of the article, creating titles of the article that are Search Engine Optimised and short headings that can be shared on Twitter and Facebook. I also received a testimonial from Dr V. Suresh, National General Secretary, PUCL for demonstrating outstanding team work and leadership skills.

I would always love to be associated with such an amazing organization and contribute to the best of my abilities , spread awareness among people , especially the youth for the betterment and progress of my country and society in general.”
