PROMOTING SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY BETWEEN INDIA AND THE U.S.

Carlos J. Camacho

Research Area

Biology, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Systems and Synthetic Biology

Dr. Camacho is Associate Professor at the Department of Computational and Systems Biology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School. His research interests involve almost all aspects related to protein-protein interactions (PPIs) and their modulations, including protein-nucleotides/small molecules, drug discovery, intrinsically disordered proteins and regulatory networks.  His lab has developed novel technologies to predict PPIs (ClusPro, licensed to Schrodinger) and to design novel (ant)-agonists to difficult pharmaceutical targets by searching the largest chemical libraries in the world (see, e.g., AnchorQuery, ZincPharmer and PocketQuery) in real time. With more than 20 years of experience developing novel scientific computing solutions to complex biological problems (see http://smoothdock.ccbb.pitt.edu/),

Dr. Camacho has published 100 peer reviewed papers with Dr. Camacho been primary author of almost all his top cited papers (H-index 40). Full list of publications is listed at https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&user=vP5B95UAAAAJ
